In response to this Oscars Academy 2012, Sherak said he agreed with the decision to Ratner. "He did the right thing for the Academy and to himself," he said. "Words mean things and have consequences. Brett is a good person, but his comments were unacceptable. We hope that this is an opportunity to raise awareness about the harm caused by insensitive and irresponsible statements, beyond his intention."
